When I spotted the advert for Jolly Boys Outing authentic Tours I was very excited, as this is one of my favourite episodes. I am also really interested in the locations used for filming all of the episodes. When it was announced a cast member would be at the lunch stop I booked my tickets and hoped Michael Fenton Stevens would be on our tour.

We arrived nice and early and parked at Margate train station, this was instantly recognisable from the episode, as I started taking photos I spotted a few other fans doing the same and started talking to Jason Allen, as I had enjoyed watching many of his videos filmed at various only fools and horses locations so it was great to meet him. We then noticed the coach pulling in and joined the queue to board. Immediately the attention to detail was clear as the coach had been rebranded with Percy’s Luxury Tours of Peckham and a cardboard cut out of Del,Rodney and Albert was greeting us at the coach door. As we stepped on board we were given a goodie bag which included an excellent 87 page colour brochure, a cardboard cut out model coach and various other goodies which really showed how much effort had been put into the tour and justified the ticket price. Once on board I spotted the F80 Musta radio on the dashboard and could see the coach had been decorated to replicate the actual coach used in the episode – what an excellent idea.

Once we were all on board Mike Jones got the trivial pursuits game out and recreated the “its a bic” scene which went straight into the song help by bananarama being played on the coach stereo as the coach pulled away, this was brilliant as it was exactly the same as the episode and we then knew we were part of something special – not just a normal location coach trip. We headed to the location of the market scene first as we were doing the tour in the correct order. As we arrived at the first location where the market scene was filmed Mike “found” the Kylie LP to give away, my wife had the lucky ticket under her seat so we were now the proud owner of the Kylie Minogue LP!  We then headed to the halfway house, which was very interesting to see, with the help of photos taken at the time of filming we could see where this scene was filmed. Adrian was able to add in the technical detail to explain how they achieved some of the shots.

We then worked our way around many other locations from the episode, as Mike came down the coach handing out refreshments just like Delboy in the episode he handed someone the “Denzil Bell” and everyone chanted unclean this was so funny. Another highlight for me was the Jolly Boys Radio announcing interesting and funny links between some great songs linked to the show. We also heard a message from David Jason, which got a big cheer.  I really enjoyed listening to the song Everybody’s Talkin by Harry Nilsson perfectly timed as we drove along the sea front recreating the famous montage – that was a very special moment.

As we headed into the lunch venue I was really shocked to see how much effort and attention to detail and been put into the room with posters from the show. I loved the Class of 62 reunion banner and expected Slater to turn up... shouting Surprise! Mike Jones signed my book as we enjoyed our fish and chips we waited to see who our special cast member guest would be, I was thrilled when Michael Fenton Stevens appeared on stage and he took time with everyone to chat about our memories and we had photo opportunities – sadly I didn’t get a groovy gang badge. Meeting Michael was a great highlight of the day and one of the reasons I booked the trip.  

We then headed out to the harbour to visit where the Del & Rodney scene was filmed with the big wheel in the background and Adrian recalled the trouble he had to get the wheel moving for the filming of this scene. We then made our way onto the beach so we could recreate the running into the sea scene, again another special moment.

I was looking forward to visiting the location of the iconic coach explosion scene and it was brilliant when Adrian managed to get smoke out of the radio as we all evacuated the vehicle, which did have a fire distinguisher! Fortunately the coach park and the surrounding area was mainly unchanged after 37 years so we could clearly see exactly where the scenes were filmed and again Adrian could add the technical details to bring this all to life in front of us. Using photos taken at the time we could place ourselves in the precise spots to make our own photo memories. Our next location was Dalby Square where we could see the B&B locations although the Villa Bella was no longer there with the help of photos we could see where the magic happened. During our time here a local resident approached us and informed us that Only Fools and Horses was filmed here!! – I think he had been on Rodney’s funny fags. 

Our last location was dreamland, unfortunately due to an event we were unable to enter the park which has dramatically changed since filming the episode but we were able to stand where the Mary Rose once stood but it would have been nice to see inside the park and view the rollercoaster – maybe next time.

We were then dropped back off at Margate Railway Station where we said our thanks and goodbyes to Mike, Adrian Del the driver and the rest of the groovy gang. 

What a fantastic day we had, it was much better than I expected it felt like we were bringing the episode back to life and we had many very special moments with camaraderie that have created lifetime memories. Thanks to Adrian for the behind the scenes insight and thanks to Mike who brought the enthusiasm and showmanship that brought the tour to life. Once home we watched the episode again.

What a great day, if you can get better than perfect, then this would be it. From the moment the coach arrived to be warmly greeted by Adrian, Mike, and Del the driver, to the time we said our goodbyes. 

The great crowd, the goodie bag, lunch with the lovely Andreè bernard. The whole day was so authentic, At anytime I expected to see Del boy, Rodney, or any of the other Nags head regulars. A big thank you to all the jolly boys crew for a great day, leaving me with very happy memories. 

The inflatable dolphin stands pride of place in my bathroom !!!..cushty, bonnet da douch,

We couldn't have asked for more from this day. I love a TV location, and we knew that having Adrian there, with his experience of the day, would make it a very special tour.  

What we hadn't banked on was the attention to detail and all the extra special touches that Mike and Adrian had carefully organised. 

From the quotes on the coaches, the music on the radio, the Bic pens, the printed out location pictures, not to mention the merch, the printed flyers for Bembom brothers, the guest houses and the ticket to the Starlight Rooms. The souvenir brochure and the call sheet in the goody bag were also really special. So many great facts and pictures. It was all brilliant. 

I loved the story about using the helicopter to get David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst to an award ceremony, and the story about David Jason and Adrian popping into the shop called Del Boys. 

We loved every location...even the market that's a garden centre now, it all painted the picture. 

And last but not least the surprise guests of 'Jevon' and 'Nervous Nerys' with our fish and chips. Such a fabulous touch in the restaurant with the OFAH posters. It all made me quite emotional. 

It's a day we won't forget.

I did the tour on 11th July. Fantastic day and well organised. As I was dressed as Del Boy (like I always do😂) I felt like a celebrity for a day, so many people asking to have a photo with me😂  so much detail and information went into this tour, thanks Adrian and Mike.

From the moment the group started to gather, we were all secretly and openly full excitement and anticipation of what the day would be. Would the weather hold out, what  scenes would we see and recognise, what would we expect at lunch and who would be joining us and of course what goodies are in Dels goody bag. Familiar faces and some new ones from the different opportunities to come together to celebrate the fabulous show and its characters. 

Was great to see Adrian and Mike again having met them at the autumn convention. 

I throughly enjoyed the little quotes on the seats, the Del, Rodney and Albert cut out as well as the amazing voice message from Sir David.

Adrian gave some great insight into the incredible episode from details including the chosen music to the makeshift market which is now a garden centre- whilst we eagerly looked for the chimney in the scene photo. The day got better and better, from the biro pen to the police station,  the seafront, the hotels and the details of the wheel being turned on for the shooting of the scene to actually meeting the wonderful man who was there that day at the theme park but didn’t want to skip his tea break so his colleague did instead and turned the big wheel on.  

Mike with his incredible knowledge of this show was a superb host too. Full of knowledge and facts which is extremely impressive. Love our ice cream pic at the beach, iconic.

I particularly loved the pub at the start, the coach park where the bus blew up,  and recreating the famous Nick L resting against the pillar photo. 

However to pinpoint a favourite part is just too difficult. I genuinely loved every single moment and  location on the tour, it was well organised and the attention to detail was superb. 

After the tour I visited a little studio where the gentleman who worked at dreamland now works. They have some little bits of artwork dedicated to the show which I was happy to support by putting my hand in my pocket and purchases. Doing my bit for small businesses. 

Also loving the new radio show which Adrian spoke about. All Hit Radio - I ended up at the car show a week later which was on my door step back in Essex. So to some people this would have been a day out to see some filming locations, many say well you can do that yourself? However for me, it was incredibly wholesome and that evening I enjoyed watching that episode that little bit more having been in those exact places hearing the details of it coming together.

Just wanted to thank Adrian, Mike and the team for a fantastic tour, I thought all the little additions like the radio and music playing, souvenirs, props, photos at the location  and the info Adrian & Mike gave, brought the locations to life and made you feel transported back to the JBO.
A really great put together tour, thanks again to you all and of course to Sue Holderness was the icing on the cake.

Me and my husband loved absolutely everything about the tour. From start to finish, every little detail. Everything Adrian and Mike put into it was absolutely amazing.
Lunch was delicious with the added visitor (Micheal Fenton Stevens) groovy, such a lovely person.

Where to begin! The tour was truly AMAZING from the time we got on the coach 'til the time we had to say our goodbyes - it was that 'feeling' of excitement all day long. The hilarious (& very interesting) commentary on board from Adrian & Mike (radio smoking! was a highlight), hopping off the coach to experience the exact locations of the original filming & having so many photo opportunities that will be treasured. Lovely fish 'n' chip meal & seeing 'Tony Angelino' perform - the detail & the organisation of this event was beyond perfik! Our goody bag was brilliant & walking down to the beach with our Union Jack hat on & blow up dolphin under our arm had to be a highlight... Thankyou, thankyou, THANKYOU...
